When I started doing Lem covers more than a decade ago, I wondered what his books would look like if they were published in the States instead of Poland? How would the instruments of retro-futuristic pulp arsenal work – for example, the characteristic combinations of vivid colors (yellow, crimson, celadon - as in the illustration for The Invincible), which resulted from the need to print in huge editions on so-so paper?
